The inspiration for the pose of the lady was taken from an old stock image of
The style is based on the famous french millefleur tapestry series The Lady and the Unicorn. I was reasonably happy with the figures but alas my attempt at a millefleur background didnt go as well as I hoped - I didnt have any paintbrushes small enough to get the kind of detail that I wanted - the kind of detail that makes this such an amazing set of tapestries!
Done on A4 entirely in watercolour paints with some slight touching up with watercolour pencils. The eyelashes were done with a 0.18 rapidograph, though the scaner didnt really pick up the detail, the colours dont look quite the same as they do on the original either...oh well.

I love the details on her dress...absolutely exquisite!! I also really enjoy the many colors and the overall style, it is very unique. Morgana has always been a fascinating person to me, and I think that unicorns are very beautiful. I think you did a really good job with the various leaves in the trees, and also Morgana's hairdo is quite pretty.

Great piece! It really puts me in another world.

Wow, this is beautiful work Lisa. You should do watercolour a LOT more! :)

I really like the toning/shading and colour choices you made, it's got an antiquated sorta style to it, I like it a lot. :+fav:
